I Ching
A 2 day course about the I Ching
This workshop introduces participants to the I Ching. The
I Ching, or the Book of Changes, is an ancient Chinese Text that has served for thousands of years as a philosophical taxonomy of the universe.
Each hexagram is composed of 2 trigrams that represent respectively, heaven, a lake, fire, thunder, wind, water, a mountain, and earth. These are the building blocks of the cosmos and through their interaction all aspects of civilization and human behaviour are developed.
The I Ching has given practical guidance to people over thousands of times. It develops their intuition and the capacity to relate to the world through the symbolical.
In this workshop will discover together the history of this ancient wisdom text, learn how to use the I Ching, and journey through the whole 64 hexagrams... through sharing, some drawing and readings, using the original translation by Richard Wilhelm with commentary by Carl Jung.
By the end of the workshop, each participant will have their own I Ching, and a fuller heartfelt understanding of this ancient wisdom text.

About Maria Lusitano
I am Maria Lusitano, an artist, and teacher passionate about wisdom traditions. My unique line of work weaves heart-centred mystical practices and art. I concluded a Master in fine art and then a PhD at the University of Westminster in 2015. I also hold a degree in Medicine concluded in 1997 (Portugal, EU) and was a practising doctor for 10 years. Since 2011 I engaged in a focused spiritual journey, and relentless quest for truth, working with Tibetan Buddhist Dzogchen teachings, exploring Sufism, and western mystical practices, leading to a spiritual awakening in 2016.
My spiritual awakening was just the beginning of a profoundly humbling experience, that led me towards more embodied heart centred meditative practices, by attending Helios Foundation and participating in their enlightenment intensive retreats.
I facilitated various arts-based workshops weaving art and spirituality such as introduction to dream yoga, drawing and soul and others, both in London and Portugal since 2015, in art museums (MAAT Lisbon) Artist-run spaces (Iklecktik, Nomadic School), Universities (Goldsmiths University) and in my studio.
